GOLDEN ORANGE CHICKEN

GOLDEN ORANGE CHICKEN

A sweet, citrusy, gut-loving reinvention

PREP TIME: 15 MIN | COOK TIME: 45–55 MIN | SERVES: 3–4

The first time I had orange chicken, I was hooked to that perfect marriage of honey and sweet citrus hitting all the right notes. But mass-market orange chicken comes with a list of ingredients you'd need a chemistry degree to decode. I wanted to bring those same bold flavors to your table using real, and whole ingredients that actually love your body back.

I hope this honey orange chicken brings as much joy to your table as it does to mine. The sweet, savory, and citrusy notes from our Golden Girl spice blend make it one I keep coming back to, and I think you will too.

There's something deeply satisfying about watching this sauce bubble and transform its honey and fresh orange juice into into a glossy, perfectly balanced syrup. No cornstarch slurries, no artificial thickeners. Just real ingredients doing what they do best.

The secret is in the marinade with its fresh garlic, grated ginger, parsley, orange zest, bell pepper, and apple cider vinegar. Each ingredient pulls double duty by building flavor and supporting digestion.

INGREDIENTS

Chicken & Marinade

4 chicken thighs

Zest from 2 large oranges

½ cup fresh chopped parsley

2 tbsp fresh grated ginger

4 cloves fresh garlic

1 bell pepper, finely chopped

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Sea salt & black pepper to taste

For The Sauce

½ cup raw natural honey

Juice from 2 large oranges (1 sliced and pressed, 1 squeezed)

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp Golden Girl spice blend (our classic curry: bold ginger, turmeric, roasted garlic, onion flakes, cumin, coriander, black pepper)

INSTRUCTIONS

 Preheat oven to 375°F.

Marinate the chicken. Combine orange zest, ginger, garlic, bell pepper, parsley, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper. Coat your chicken thighs thoroughly and let them marinate for at least 15–20 minutes — overnight if you can swing it. The longer it sits, the deeper the flavor. Set aside 1 tablespoon of the marinade for your sauce.

Bake. Place marinated chicken in the oven for 40–45 minutes, until the tops turn golden brown. Halfway through, spoon the pan juices back over each thigh to keep them moist and flavorful.

Make the sauce. Over low heat, melt butter, and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Add honey and fresh orange juice, then raise heat to medium-high. Let it cook for 3–4 minutes until it reduces and slightly thickens. Bring the heat back to low, stir in your reserved tablespoon of green marinade and your Golden Girl blend. That's where the magic happens.

SERVE

Pour the sauce generously over your chicken. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve over roasted vegetables, rice, potatoes, pasta, or a grain bowl...honestly, whatever you're feeling.
